How to Enjoy Singapore in 48 Hours – Day 1

Posted by Cedric A. Solidon On April - 12 - 2011

Singapore Skyline

First, a backgrounder. I was stupid enough to book a flight to Singapore without minding the actual time my family, Trish and I were going to spend there. It was only weeks before the trip–when I was already doing our itinerary–that I realized that we only had 48 hours to enjoy what Singapore had to offer.

So there I was, staring at my monitor and the spreadsheet that lay before me, wondering how the hell I would fit in lots of activities in two days (thanks to Nina for inspiring me to make great use of Microsoft Excel when planning trips).

But I love challenges. Besides, I didn’t have any choice anyway, so I came up with my own 48-hour Singapore Itinerary of which the first day I’m sharing with you below:

Cagayan de Oro City: The Divisoria Night Market

Divisoria Night Market 5

Blame it on living in the city for too long, or staying inside my coop for extended periods of time, but I’m currently drawn to shooting street scenes. Thus it was a joy to be able to go to Cagayan de Oro during the weekend when the Divisoria district is filled with street stalls, barbecue grills, and live entertainment.

Oh My Gulay! What a Surprise in Baguio!

From the BenCab museum, we took a break before finally proceeding to Oh My Gulay restaurant that evening.

Located in Session Road at the topmost floor of La Azotea Building, it is a vegetarian restaurant owned by Filipino artist Kidlat Tahimik. He wasn’t there when we visited, but the surroundings easily made it obvious that it was owned by an artist.

Oh My Gulay’s location gives you a good view of the Baguio skyline–yes, even SM Baguio’s in view.

It was already around 7:30 when we got there. We were quite lucky because we didn’t know that the restaurant closed at 8:30 (Oh My Gulay is open from 11am-8:30pm). Good thing we still managed to order food especially since we were already starving at the time.

Project 365 – Days 235-248

Posted by Cedric A. Solidon On September - 8 - 2010

The past two weeks were a mish mash of activities. First, I finally availed of the free accommodation I got from Astoria Boracay. The place is great–great enough for you to forget the busy beaches outside. From there, I returned to the regular grind of work, so I also took the time to share some of the books that continue to help me write and work as a freelancer. Then finally, I returned to sketching again. Not that I’m good at it, just that I like doing it. :D So here’s how the past two weeks went.
