Hot or Cold, Where Would You Rather Be?

Posted by Cedric A. Solidon On January - 27 - 2011

Discussion Thursdays: This is the time of the week where we talk about (or argue) if you want about travel-related topics.

As a kid growing up in a tropical country, I’ve always dreamt of going up north and seeing snow and playing with it. But I realized later on that I’m too allergic to cold temperatures, that my dream of seeing snow has eventually waned.

I don’t like being in front of electric fans or airconditioning units. I chill, then I freeze. I don’t like the feeling at all.

And it gets worse when you’re in the mall or when you’re riding in a provincial bus in the Philippines. Like the guys in charge of the A/C units are meaning to freeze you to death. That’s how it is for me.

So I’d rather live in this warm country, than have my teeth chattering in the cold.

How about you, would you rather live in a cold or a warm climate? Please share your thoughts below. :)

Would You Rather Travel or Have a House?

Discussion Thursdays: This is the time of the week where we talk about (or argue) if you want about travel-related topics.

I’ve heard from some hardcore travelers that they’ve traded having a house to be able to travel around the world. For me that’s fantastic only if you’re not planning on having a family one day.

In that case, I would go for having a house before anything else. Once you have a house, you can leave it all you want and travel. Pretty ironic, right?

But enough about what I think. Please share your thoughts on this topic: if you just enough money to spend, would you rather spend it on travel or having a house? Leave your comment on the box below. :)

Accommodations: Cheap or Expensive?

Posted by Cedric A. Solidon On January - 13 - 2011

Discussion Thursdays: This is the time of the week where we talk about (or argue) if you want about travel-related topics.

While cheap and expensive are pretty relative words, I always try to choose the best accommodation that I can afford. I don’t like sharing room with strangers so I’ve never opted staying in dorms. Also, I don’t like to pay too much just to get service that I could do by myself (a concierge anyone?).

So when it comes to accommodations in the Philippines, a reasonable price for me to pay is somewhere around P700 (when I’m traveling solo) to P1,200 if I’m traveling with a group.

How about you, how much are you willing to pay for your accommodation? Share your thoughts on the comments box below.

Metro Manila: Love It or Hate It?

Posted by Cedric A. Solidon On January - 6 - 2011

Discussion Thursdays: This is the time of the week where we talk about (or argue) if you want about travel-related topics.

For this week, let’s talk about our relationship with Metro Manila.

I don’t like living in Manila. That is, if you mean living by being free from stress, pollution, and poverty. On the other hand, it’s also where the action is if you want to find work and work with interesting people. That is not to mention that I’ve lived here for a huge part of my life with my family. So I have a love-hate relationship with the Metro.

How about you, do you love or hate Metro Manila? Please leave a comment below. :)

What are Your Thoughts on This Short Film?

Posted by Cedric A. Solidon On December - 8 - 2010

I watched the above video a while ago and I felt sick in my stomach. Not because of the guy pointing his gun at the girl, but at how the photographer here reacted when she saw the scene.

Watch the video first, then I’ll continue.
